Stephen M. Nichols Speaks at HarrisMartin Asbestos Conference
On September 24, 2007, partner Stephen Nichols was a featured speaker at a Harris Martin's Asbestos and Silica Litigation Conference held at the St. Regis Hotel in San Francisco. Mr. Nichols spoke on the topic of Emerging Trends in Asbestos Litigation and covered issues related to new exposures and defenses as well as talc, vermiculite and tremolite cases and recent verdicts against R.T. Vanderbilt.
Mr. Nichols also participated in a defense round table at the DRI Asbestos Medicine Seminar held in San Diego on November 7. The round table forum was one which allowed asbestos trial attorneys from around the country to exchange information about how cases are being tried throughout the United States and to discuss changes that are taking place relating to local rules governing the trial of asbestos cases.
As part of his continuing involvement in asbestos trial work in Los Angeles, Mr. Nichols participates as a member of an attorney liaison group that meets periodically with a small panel of trial judges in a continuing effort to revise and update the Los Angeles General Orders that apply to all asbestos cases. Several of the General Orders have been recently revised through the workings of this select group.
