On May 18, 2009, about 140 avid golfers of all experience levels
participated in the 22nd Annual Seagull Golf Classic Tournament in sunny
Southern California. The tournament took place on the picturesque Old
Ranch Country Club golf course in Seal Beach. WFB&M volunteers manned
the course, providing drinks, contests and prizes. A hearty box lunch
was generously provided to all of the golfers by sponsor Lockton
Insurance Brokers, LLC. After a full day of golfing, the event
culminated with family and friends gathering for a dinner and auction.
The low gross first place winners of the tournament, and recipients of
the perpetual Bocci memorial trophy, were Rad Bowman, Jesse Machado,
Cole David and Jon Eric Hernandez, who traveled across the ocean from
Catalina Island to participate in the event. Winners of the low net
first place trophies were Gene Hatz, Jeff Hatz, Jason Hatz and Todd
Landreth.
The Seagull tournament is held annually to raise money for the research,
treatment, and prevention of juvenile diabetes. The event began
twenty-two years ago as a casual gathering organized by partners Ron
Bevins, Mike McCall, and their softball team, the Seagulls. Over the
years, the proceeds from the tournament have benefited the Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation and the Children's Hospital of Orange
County.
WFB&M would like to thank everyone for their continued support and
participation in this tournament. We look forward to meeting again in
2010 for another great event!
