In response to California's statewide fiscal crisis and judicial branch reductions, the Judicial Council of California voted unanimously on July 29, 2009 to close all state courts on the third Wednesday of each month, from September 2009 through June 2010. This unprecedented action was part of the hard-fought 2009-2010 Budget Act and is expected to save approximately $94.3 million dollars statewide.
