After Fox News, What Should Companies Know About Corporate Counsel Defendants?

Recent lawsuits alleging harassment and discrimination against Fox News Channel have named Dianne Brandi, the executive vice president of legal and business affairs, for not taking action to properly investigate or address complaints of a hostile work environment. This raises the issue of how companies and their legal counsel should respond when those in charge of ensuring that the company follows the law are accused of breaking it themselves.

Walsworth’s Employment partner, Sage Knauft, was quoted by Corporate Counsel to discuss strategies for dealing with such lawsuits. Knauft recommends that for companies who find their in-house counsel named in lawsuits, it would be prudent to have “outside counsel appointed immediately.”
