Attorney: Sage R. Knauft | Published 1.26.18

Workplace fatalities have been steadily increasing every year in the U.S. In fact, 2016 saw the highest number of on the job deaths since 2008, approximately 5,190. Although tragic, this information does not come as a surprise to many experts, who claim that there is still much work that needs to be done to prevent these workplace accidents.

Sage also mentions that employers should adopt better safety practices, such as regular safety meetings where they discuss with their employees how to create a safe work environment and identify potential safety hazards. Sage points out that “safety has to be elevated to a top priority. This has to be communicated to employees: ‘Let’s make sure nobody gets hurt today.’ It has to become part of the culture.”
