On May 1, 2017, Walsworth attorneys were joined by family, friends and supporters at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, California for the 30th Annual Seagull Golf Tournament to raise money and awareness for juvenile diabetes. On this beautiful day, 132 golfers played in the tournament with around 150 people attending the banquet and silent action later that evening.

This charity started off as an informal golf outing in 1987 by Walsworth partners, Ronald Bevins, Lawrence Duffy, Michael McCall and Ferdie Franklin, who were on an Orange County softball team called the Seagulls. When one of the attorneys’ three-year-old daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, this team decided to organize this event to raise money for this cause.

Over the last 30 years, Walsworth and friends have raised in excess of half a million dollars for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), both of which work in the research, prevention and treatment of juvenile diabetes. Walsworth is both thankful and honored by the generosity and support from all the attendees, corporate and individual sponsors, the volunteer committee and staff, and the Walsworth event chairs, all of whom made the success of this charity possible.

Much thanks to everyone for attending and for their continued support over the years for such a worthwhile cause. We hope to see familiar and new faces next year for another great event!
