Senior Accounting Manager
We are currently in search of a Senior Accounting Manager to become part of our team. This position will oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and is expected to work closely with team members. The Senior Accounting Manager will report directly to the CFO.
This is a leadership role in financial decision-making that will provide strategic financial input to the executive team. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and implementing financial procedures to improve and maintain the financial health of the firm.
This is a 100% remote position, with occasional travel (1 – 3 times a year) to our Orange County office. Qualified applicants must reside in California, Tennessee, or South Carolina. Daily video and phone calls will be necessary.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage all accounting operations including A/P, A/R, GL, and reporting.
- Perform cash management function along with preparation of the statement of cashflow. Ensure cash flow is appropriate for firm’s operations.
- Prepare and post journal entries and reconcile the bank accounts as needed.
- Manage, motivate, reward, and mentor the accounting department. Provide guidance to the executive team on the resolution of financial matters.
- Continuously improve operational excellence, analyze business processes, identify opportunities, and drive projects to eliminate waste and further improve people, processes, systems, and standardization.
- Communicate with executive team regularly regarding the health and KPI status of the firm in both verbal and report form. Provide financial analysis support on a regular basis to the executive team.
- Drive efficient customer billing and AR collections cycles to ensure proper cash flow. Provide reporting to executive team.
- Ensure the accounting team maintains all internal controls and company files in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Regularly audit accounting team to ensure accuracy of accounts.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements and additional management reporting.
- Manage month-end and year-end close process.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills and ability to think outside the box.
- Proven experience in managing an accounting department from a remote location.
- Must maintain high professionalism and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent ability to organize, prioritize and multitask while demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness in your work product.
- Ability to take ownership of the process and results.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance is required.
- Law Firm experience required.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and law firm billing software; SurePoint experience highly preferred Proficiency in legal billing and accounting applications; Rippe LMS WebTime a plus.
Compensation:
The annual base salary for this position starts at $120,000-$150,000 (Walsworth is not a lock-step firm. The exact amount of salary for this position is dependent on a variety of factors). In addition to base salary, Walsworth offers paid parental leave, paid sick time, medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401k.
